I’m going to share with you Five Tips that have helped me to finding myself. These may not work for you, but I’m just sharing what works for me and hopefully it will be able to help you. I know its very hard when your lost and you just feel like you don’t know yourself or what truly makes you happy, everyone is there at some point in their life. I would say probably a year ago I truly found myself and I can say once I did my whole life shifted. It’s such an amazing feeling knowing exactly who you are and knowing your purpose in life. Nothing can get in your way and you are unstoppable.
TIP 1 – “ME TIME”
It sounds pretty simple doesn’t it? But we really need to take time and schedule in our calendars time for ourselves, whether its doing something you love, meditating or just sitting down relaxing. It’s so important to just be able to connect with yourself and do something you enjoy for yourself. Some things I do for “me” time include
- walking my dogs– I love to go on a nice walk with my dogs Wakka and Leo. They get the exercise they need and I get fresh air and just time to myself, I releases stress and most of the time i don’t bring my phone and I’m just enjoying everything around me. It gives me a space in the day to just forget about everything going on or maybe even think about everything going on.
- Bubble bath –I love to end my night with a bubble bath, i love to soak with a face mask on ( and some champagne or moscato) i feel so relaxed and its a good way to end the night.
- Reading- I’ll touch more on this because i think it’s SO important, it’s definitely one of my tips for finding yourself.
These are just a few examples of what I do for “me’ time. Whatever brings you joy while you’re doing it and makes you feel good, take time and do. Even if it’s doing literally nothing for twenty minutes, put your phone down and just relax for twenty minutes out of your day and take the time for you, watch your favorite show, sing, read, whatever you love to do include in your day everyday.
TIP 2- GET RID OF NEGATIVE PEOPLE/THINGS-
Sometimes it can be hard to let go of people or things, but if someone is being negative all the time and just bringing negative vibes, its time to let go! Same goes for items, if you have an old pair of jeans you’ve been saving and its making you feel bad about yourself- get rid of them. If an item no longer brings you joy, discard it. If friends/family are always trying to put you down, its time to step away from them. When you surround yourself with positive people, you will start to feel so much better. I recently deleted some negative people from my life and when I did my life definitely changed for the better. It’s hard to be positive when the people around you aren’t. You also don’t want a friend that is always trying to compete. You want friends that are going to uplift you and support you. So look around your life who and what is it time to get rid of?
TIP 3- READ READ READ
It’s so crazy I’m giving you advice to read because in high school, i hated reading and now I love it so much. Reading is apart of my daily routine, I read everyday for a half hour. Reading just honestly feeds my soul, you gain so much knowledge. I really feel like reading has played a HUGE role in finding myself. One of my favorite books is you are a bad ass by Jen Sincero, I highly recommend it. I’m going to do a post soon on all of the books i have recently read and love. I’m thinking of posting every few months on the books I’m loving and calling it #beautyandbrains or possibly starting a book club #blondehustle. Let me know if you’d be interested in either of these!
TIP 4 -FIND YOUR PASSION
This is so so so important. Finding your passion will give you purpose every single day, It’ll grow you into the person you want to be. If your stuck at a job or doing something you don’t love everyday, you’re not going to feel good about yourself and you can lose yourself. Whenever I worked at a job i didn’t love, I would never fully feel satisfied about myself. Life is way too short to waste of doing something you don’t love. DONT SETTLE. Quit the job you don’t love to do what your passionate about because I promise If you do what you love and work hard the money will come. If you don’t know what your truly passionate about yet, I recommend just jotting down in a notebook things that you love and then on the other side things that you don’t. Writing this down will help you connect with yourself and find your passion, if you want more tips on this I will definitely do a blog post all on finding your passion. It took me awhile to find mine and once I did I truly found myself and was able to accept and love myself for me.
TIP 5-POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS
I LOVE positive affirmations. If you don’t know what a positive affirmation is, it’s when you flood your brain with a positive thought. I recommend starting with two to focus on at first. This helps so much when your thinking negative or feeling down just repeat to yourself something positive, that can be a favorite quote or something as simple as ” I am Beautiful, I am strong” Sometimes just switching your negative thoughts to positive will help you in finding yourself and getting out of the funk you’re in. ” your attitude determines your altitude”
