I love her personality and she has the cutest style. I love to collab with women, not compete, empowering others and inspiring is my passion. It’s so fun hearing other women’s tips, favorite products, etc. I really want my blog to bring value and knowledge to my viewers, I want you to be able to get the best tips from fashion to traveling etc. If there is anyone you think should be on the blog, definitely email me some suggestions! I love to connect with you guys comment below and leave me your favorite beauty tip. Enough chit-chat from me, now time to meet Lexi!
1.tell me about yourself.
Here in Chicago I go by Alexandra, but I prefer to be called Lex! I’m 26 and live in Chicago! I work at a luxury hair salon & spa in the Chicago suburbs, and I’m also a bartender at a sports bar in downtown Chicago. I am fashion and beauty obsessed! I love all things girly and fun, but I’m also one of the biggest sports fans you’ll ever see!
2. What’s your holy grail beauty product?
I would have to say my Korres Wild Rose Vitamin C Brightening Oil! I think it is one of the main things that has saved my dry & chapped skin from the Chicago wind. Let me tell you it is BRUTAL. I use it morning and night, but on my days off I’ll wear it alone with an SPF and my skin looks glowing. I would recommend it to anyone suffering with dry skin! It will be a miracle worker!
3. What are some places in Chicago you recommend visiting?
Hands down I would tell any one to go to Quartino. It’s an Italian restaurant in River North, and I am obsessed with it! The food and drinks are to die for, and the atmosphere is something that is hard to find in Cleveland. I would eat here every single day if I could.
Also, the Signature Lounge in the John Hancock building is a must go when in Chicago! All you have to do is pay for a drink (it’s in the same building that the 360 observatory deck is but with a better view) and you get to see some of the most beautiful views in Chicago. Fun fact: the women’s bathroom has the best view. It’s unbelievable! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
4. What’s your go to winter look?
When I’m not in joggers & sweatshirts I would definitely have to say oversized sweaters with skinny jeans & a chunky bootie. I got an amazing pair of booties from Target on Black Friday, and I think I’ve worn them at least 10x since getting them. You can make any outfit look so chic with a pair of cute shoes I swear.
5. What made you start blogging/YouTube?
I started my YouTube because everyone at the salon I work at told me that they could see me doing something like that. I posted a few videos, but had to give back the camera I was borrowing from my brother. But NOW I have my own camera that I bought this month so new video’s will be coming SOON!
I mainly started my blog because I love writing. It is honestly so therapeutic to me. I’ve kept journals forever, I just figured why not put my passion into words. I love that you can really hear a person speaking when it comes to writing.
6. What are some 2018 goals you have?
My biggest goal in 2018 is to quit at least one of my jobs. Since moving to Chicago I have worked two jobs. One in the salon & then I also bartend. I love both of them dearly, but it’s just not where my passion or my heart is. I know that if I put my time and effort into my blog & my YouTube channel I can make it happen. That’s what keeps me going.
7. Any book recommendations or a routine you do on a daily basis that is good for self growth.
Many people do not know this but I practice the Law of Attraction everyday. I know to most it sounds crazy, but like really does attract like. I try to remain positive and try not to speak negative things into existence. I like to start my morning with a couple of minutes of mediation and stretching to really set my intention for the day. Any goals or aspirations that I write in my journal and every few weeks I go back and re read what I wrote to see if there is anything that happened. 9 times out of 10 it really happens! I think it’s so wild haha
8.What is advice you would give to someone wanting to start a blog?
I would say to go for it! Not everyone is going to understand why you’re doing it, but I’ve just learned to brush off the naysayers. If I let stuff like that get to me I wouldn’t be in the position that I am today. It’s not easy but if it’s your passion it will come so easily to you. It’s fun to see where you started, and how far you come! Just do it!
