I did a poll on insta if you guys would rather see a post on blonde hair or my thoughts on college and my thoughts on college won. So here it goes, everyone has different opinions on this. This post is just my thoughts and opinions on college.
Well the thought of going to a college campus for 4+ years racking up student loan debt, gaining the freshman 15, partying all the time, honestly sounds awful to me. I remember when I graduated high school and told my uncle I wasn’t going to college, four years later he’s still asking me when I’m going,HA! He is your typical business man, he’s so hardworking and I look up to him in so many ways. He’s a super successful smart guy. But college and the typical 9-5 job isn’t for everyone. I never followed what “society” claims to be “the right way”. Choosing success in ways other succeed just wasn’t for me, even if it meant not doing what my uncle or family wanted for me.No one can define your success or your future, BUT YOU. And you know what, I honestly like to dance to the beat of my own drum.
My way might not be for everyone either, I just always knew I was not meant for a 9-5 or to be someone else’s employee. So why am I going to waste time in classes, some classes that may not even be beneficial to my future, to me that is a waste of time. I’m all about time efficiency, I would rather spend time doing what I love, working and improving and growing myself and my brand. I just never understood spending all your time in school, studying, being stressed out and then a lot of the time, students change their major 50 times, rack up even more debt just to find out that’s not even what they wanted to do. Then your stuck with tons of student loan debt and not finding a job you went to school for, I mean it sounds insane to me to rack all that debt up just to find a job to get you out of debt?
Another thing my family always said to me is ” your missing out on the experience, you get to party, meet people,be on your own and be independent” I don’t love to party, I create experiences by traveling and doing things I love to do and guess what I still am independent I didn’t need ” the college experience” I can still cook, clean, do my own laundry and everything you would do on your own away at college. Being away from my family also sounds awful to me, I mean I only love my bed and my mama, I’m sorry! – haha thank you Drake for making these lyrics.
Now at this point your probably thinking I’m crazy. LOL
I’m not saying college isn’t for everyone, if you know you want a job, you want to be an employee, for example maybe it’s your dream to be nurse ( my moms a nurse), or to be a teacher, etc. Then obviously I’m all for it go to school. I would never tell someone not to go to school or raise my children not to go to school. But for me, or someone like me, that’s an entrepreneur or wanting to be one, or doing something that’s a trade, college isn’t for you AND ITS OKAY!!
NEVER DO SOMETHING JUST BECAUSE YOUR PARENTS, FAMILY OR SOCIETY WANTS YOU TO.
I wouldn’t have been able to be my own boss at 20 if I listened to everyone and did what ” your suppose to do”. Now I’m 21 with my own business that I work on everyday and creating my brand. I have the freedom I’ve always wanted and to me that’s whats important.
Whatever it is you want to do whether that be the college life or the do it your own way, just make sure whatever you do it’s because it’s what you want, know your worth, know who you are and always follow your heart and put good out in this world.
These are just my personal opinions, and you are entitled to yours as well and I would love to hear your thoughts on college, comment below!
